Description
An American Sparkler
The Schramsberg is a historic winery specializing in sparkling wine from St. Helena, California. Back in 1965, the Shramsberg Blanc de Blancs was the first commercial use of Chardonnay in American sparkling wine. It was also used in President Nixon’s 1972 “Toast to Peace” and has been served at official state functions by every US Presidential administration since.
The Blanc de Blancs is dry and crisp. On the nose the wine is bursting with apple, tropical fruit, fresh baked bread and citrus notes of lemon. Small lots of this wine goes through malolactic and barrel fermentation to add more depth, complexity and roundness to the wine. On the palate the wine is fresh vibrant, fruit forward and structured. It can be enjoyed on its own or with small plates such as oysters and crab cakes.
