Rooted in California’s iconic Sonoma County, the teams of the Marietta Cellars have relied on their friendships with local farmers and winemakers. Having amassed some of the finest plots in the area over the years, Marietta Wine Cellar currently reigns over 400 acres of vines, spreading over three Californian AVAs.
Fine Sonoma County plots: Geyserville, McDowell & Yorkville
Acquired in 1990, Geyserville is a 35-acre plot planted with Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Petite Sirah also known as Durif. The terraces vines rest on deep gravel and rocky soils and benefit from their location next to a river.
McDowell, the 270-acre vineyard was acquired by the winery in 2012 and is home to some of the oldest Syrah and Grenache Gris vines in California. These old vines are deeply-rooted in rich, soil with a thin clay layer on the surface. The estate's iconic Gibson Block Syrah wine stems from this area.
The 10-acre Yorkville vineyard is poised at 460 meters above sea level and comprises cloned Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. A pleasant breeze brushed through the rows of vines throughout the day, due to the vineyard's proximity to the coast.

The family-owned Marietta winery invest their time and dedication into the creation of their wines. Each bottling reflects the unique characteristics of the vineyard from which it stems and each vine is treated with the utmost care.
The winery's OVR series, meaning Old Vine Red, exude a well-balanced expression. Their texture is smooth. This jammy Old Vine red wine expresses flavors of black cherry, vanilla and plum on the palate. These Zinfandel-dominant red blend will pair beautifully with lamb served with a side of grilled vegetables.
The Family Series pays tribute to Christo Bilbro, the founder of the Marietta winery. Comprising a blend of traditional Rhone varietals, namely Syrah, Grenache, Petit Sirah and Viognier, these wines owwer both a powerful and well-balanced expression.
Marietta's Estate Series showcases the expression of the estate's unique vines from distinctive plots. Gibson Block is rooted in the heart of California's McDowell Valley AVA and is planted with some of the oldest Syrah vines in California. Revealing mouth-coating tannins and a powerful structure on the palate, Gibson Block 2019 is designed to age.
