The story of Kapcsandy Family Winery is one of the American dream materialized and success earned through hard work and unrelenting determination. Its founder, Lou Kapcsandy immigrated to the USA from his native Hungary in 1956 in pursuit of a better life, and settled in the San Francisco Bay Area, where he fell in love with American wine country. On a trip to Bordeaux in 1998, Lou and his wife Bobbie visited Chateau Leoville las Cases, where they received a warm welcome from the estate's patriarch Michel Delon. A conversation about vineyards and winemaking between the two men planted a seed of desire in Lou's heart and he returned to California fully determined to buy his own vineyard and make his own wine with his son Louis Jr. Just two years later, his dream materialized through the purchase of a 20-acre parcel in Yountville. The family got to work replanting this land with 15 blocks of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot, blocks which today make one of the most highly prized Bordeaux-style blends in Napa Valley.
