Chianti originates from the historic heart of Tuscany, in Italy, between the provinces of Florence and Siena, in the valley that bears the name of this now famous wine. A Tuscan appellation derived from the DOC Chianti, created in 1967, the DOCG Chianti Classico was awarded by the Italian government in 1996.
The DOCG Chianti Classico imposes a large majority of Sangiovese in the blends with a minimum of 75%, which can be complemented by other grape varieties, often indigenous, such as Malvasia del Chianti or Canaiolo Nero.
Many factors contribute to the unique style of Chianti Classico. The vineyards benefit from an exceptional terroir: a high altitude (with vines planted between 450 and 600 metres), sandy soils, a south-western exposure favouring optimal sunshine with surrounding forests located near the river, guaranteeing coolness at night after the hot summer days.
The inimitable expression of Tuscany, Chianti Classico is characterised by its great olfactory elegance and aromatic intensity with scents of cherry and vanilla. On the palate, these are harmonious wines, with structured tannins, characterised by a beautiful acidity and a long finish that ends with developed organic scents of pepper and tobacco.
