The vintage with the lowest temperatures since 1996, 2010 will be remembered for its contrasting character: a cold winter and spring, followed by a hot and dry summer. Similar in style to the 1995, the Dom Perignon 2010 presents an intense aromatic bouquet marked by notes of tropical fruit, like mango, melon and pineapple. Citrus notes of tangerine and orange zest follow. Swirling the glass reveals floral touches of peony and lilac. On the palate, this champagne seduces with its ample and generous texture, its great precision and its persistent, saline finish.
After seventeen years spent aging in the underground chalk cellars of Dom Perignon, the 2002 vintage of this iconic champagne has been released in its“Second Plenitude.” This P2 offers a new window into the evolution of the 2002, now at the peak of its vitality, having gained a complexity, intensity and depth that time alone can achieve. The nose bursts forth aromas of ripe orchard fruit, citrus, iodine and warm bread, accentuated by saffron and smoke. A par are markably opulent and graceful palate leads to a long, lingering and chalky finish.
Product of a warm and sunny vintage, the Dom Perignon Rosé Vintage 2006 offers a certain “magnetic drive,” in the words of Cellar Master Vincent Chaperon. Here the spotlight is on Pinot Noir, complemented by Chardonnay in a proportion that remains a closely guarded secret. A first nosing reveals notes of cocoa and spices. Roasted figs and apricots follow, giving way to candied orange aromas and smoky nuances. It is on the palate, however, that this rosé champagne expresses its full personality and sheer magnitude, with a juicy frame, tight grain and rich, mouth-coating texture.
