Bogle Vineyards : Merlot 2017

Now in their sixth generation of farming, Bogle Vineyards first started out by growing orchard fruit in California. It wasn’t until 1968 that the family planted vinifera vines to produce wine. For the first decade, the Bogle family sold grapes to other wineries and in 1978 the first Bogle label wine was produced. Now, the winery is still family run and is making strides to become a model for sustainable large-scale winemaking.

Bogle Vineyards Merlot is a well-structured, fleshy, full-bodied wine with notes of juicy cherries, creme-brulee and a touch of earth. Aged 12 months in American Oak, the wine is silky on the palate but still intense enough to reflect the 13.5% alcohol content. Not overly fruity, this everyday Merlot is balanced with firm tannin. Enjoy with any hearty, weeknight meal.
