The Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir 2016 from Anthill Farms is a single-varietal Pinot Noir red wine. The grapes are sourced from two of the coolest, most coastal area of the Sonoma Coast appellation of California: the low coast on the edge of the Petaluma Gap, west of Sebastopol and the high coast further to the north, which includes the first or second ridge ingland from the ocean. The cool, marine air blowing off the Pacific slows down the ripening of the grapes here, delaying it until well into October. This results in a great complexity of aromas in the finished wine. The 2016 vintage is known for its terrific depth of flavor and richness on the palate.

The Anthill Farms Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir 2016 is expressive even in its youth, with the nose exuding notes of blood orange, seamlessly blended with hints of roasted mushroom and cardamom. On the palate, this Californian Pinot Noir is cooler, offering forest berries, juicy cherries and raspberries, as well as layers of tobacco, spice and pine. A tangy acidity bursts forward on a firm tannic structure, ending in a long, lingering and generous finish. A wonderful Pinot Noir for the price, which will pair easily with a wide range of dishes.
