Discover Fine Bordeaux Wine
Bordeaux is one of the most important wine regions in the world. Dominated by red blends mostly consisting of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, these wines tend to be medium bodied with earthy notes and sturdy tannins. The climate of Bordeaux is mostly impacted by the surrounding rivers and close proximity to the Atlantic Ocean, which create a consistently moderate climate.
The Millesima team has chosen two bottles from the Left Bank and one from the Right Bank to feature in our Bordeaux Discovery Wine Gift Set. The Left Bank is home to well-known appellations such as Margaux, whose wines are known for their generous balance and remarkable finish, and Saint-Julien, whose wines are bold, fine and perfumed with a complex bouquet. Both appellations produce Medoc wines at a fantastic value.
The Bordeaux Discovery Wine Gift Set contains three unique bottles from well-known producers: Chateau La Dauphine is located in the prestigious Fronsac appellation; Connetable de Talbot is the second wine of Chateau Talbot, a prestigious Classified Growth of Saint-Julien and one of the essential references of the wines of the Left Bank in the Bordeaux region; Fiefs de Lagrange, Second Wine of Chateau Lagrange, comes from vines aged 30 years on average, planted in fine gravel soils for Cabernet Sauvignon and clay for Merlot.
Chateau La Dauphine Fronsac 2015
Merlot, Cabernet Franc - Fronsac
The 2015 La Dauphine is an attractive, mid-weight Fronsac to drink upon release. Super-ripe, black cherry, plum, lavender and violet are laced into the inviting, floral finish. This is an especially polished, refined Fronsac from the Halley family. In some tastings, the fruit was quite ripe and succulent, while at other times, the wine was a bit more understated. Either way, the 2015 should be a terrific value.
Connetable de Talbot Saint-Julien 2018
Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot - Saint-Julien
Recognized as "one of the very best second wines of the Medoc", the Connetable de Talbot of Chateau Talbot was created in the 1960's. The Connetable de Talbot 2018 is made from a blend of 43% Cabernet Sauvignon and 57% Merlot. The wine is aged for 16 months in barrel, of which 20% is new. The Connetable de Talbot 2018 is produced in the style that has become associated with Chateau Talbot: an elegant and classic Saint-Julien.
Fiefs de Lagrange Saint-Julien 2015
Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot - Saint-Julien
Harmonious and balanced, the Second Wine of Chateau Lagrange, Fiefs de Lagrange, is a blend of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 41% Merlot and 4% Petit Verdot. One of the main features of the 2015 vintage is its freshness, complemented by a strong tannic structure. This wine offers spicy notes and ripe black fruit on a palate that is quite vivid at this stage of aging. The 2015 vintage can be tasted between 2018 and 2030.
