Discover Fine Bordeaux Wine

Bordeaux is one of the most important wine regions in the world. Dominated by red blends mostly consisting of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, these wines tend to be medium bodied with earthy notes and sturdy tannins. The climate in Bordeaux is most impacted by the surrounding rivers and close proximity to the Atlantic Ocean creating a consistently moderate climate.

The Millesima team has picked two bottles from the Left Bank and one from the Right Bank for the Bordeaux Discovery Wine Gift Set. The Left Bank is home to well-known appellations such as Pessac-Leognan and Haut-Medoc. The terroir of Pessac-Leognan offers wines with a robust and complex personality and a mineral aspect. The wines of Haut-Medoc are known for their generous balance and remarkable finish. Saint-Emilion is a key appellation in the Right-Bank producing some of the most prestigious and long-lived wines.

The Bordeaux Discovery Wine Gift Set contains three unique bottles: Domaine de la Solitude is a functioning monastery and vineyard that creates beautiful Bordeaux blends; Sociando Mallet is a rising star producer creating lovely age worthy wines; and Chateau Grand Corbin Manuel, established in the 18th century, produces wonderful wines from Saint-Emilion.

Domaine de la Solitude Red 2014
Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot – Pessac-Leognan

Bright and fresh, bursting with red and black fruit, the Domaine de la Solitude is balanced out with a weighty structure and round tannins. A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot with a dash of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, this wine has superb flavors and complexities for a delightful Bordeaux.

La Demoiselle de Sociando-Mallet 2008
Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc – Haut-Medoc

Made from younger vines on the Chateau Sociando-Mallet property, this wine is a blend of mostly Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. La Demoiselle de Sociando-Mallet is fruit forward and round on the palate. Raspberries, strawberries and black cherries are met with suave tannins and a long finish. The added age on this bottle will bring out more earthy tones to add even more complexity and character to the wine.

Chateau Grand Corbin Manuel 2010

Dark fruit flavors of black cherry, black currants and blackberries blend wonderfully with earthy notes of tomato leaf, and tobacco to create a classic Saint-Emilion Bordeaux blend. The palate has plenty of grip from the powerful tannins, along with fresh fruit and balanced acidity.
