Passionate about the greatest terroirs around the world and having cultivated its entrepreneurial spirit for more than two centuries, the Rothschild family founded the Barons de Rothschild Champagne House in 2005. This familial and heartfelt creation, which resulted from the unprecedented union between three branches (Chateau Mouton Rothschild, Chateau Clarke, Chateau Lafite Rothschild), aims to magnify the majestic Champagne wine terroir which embodies quality and the art of living beyond borders.
Established in Reims near famous estates since 2007, the Barons de Rothschild Champagne House unveiled, after 4 years of aging, its Brut, Blanc de Blancs and Rose cuvees from 2009, then its Extra Brut cuvee in 2011.
The Barons de Rothschild Champagne House has continuously innovated throughout its history, bearing the values of excellence, good taste and conviviality. The year 2013 was marked by the acquisition of Clos Rothschild in Vertus, comprising 1 hectare of vines as well as old cellars. In 2015, the house launched its vintage Blanc de Blancs 2006, in 2017, its vintage Blanc de Blancs 2008 and finally, in 2020, its The Rothschild Rare Vintage 2010 cuvee.
With a historical heritage spanning more than 250 years, the Rothschild dynasty has had the ambition of "accomplishing through great achievements" with a pioneering spirit for seven generations. Drawing on its wine-growing experience in Bordeaux, the Rothschild family has joined forces with emblematic figures in Champagne, such as Frederic Mairesse (the house’s General Manager) and Guillaume Lete (Cellar Master), who share their respective know-how through the production of excellent Champagne wines. In addition to its own vineyards, the Rothschild family also forges solid relationship with partner producers in order to develop champagnes of a rare elegance from an exceptional terroir and rigorously selected grapes.
Barons de Rothschild champagnes are vinified in small containers within a custom-built winery in order to preserve the characteristics of their original terroirs. Produced from a blend of Grand and Premier Crus from the Cote des Blancs and the Reims Mountain, these cuvees benefit from an aging period of at least four years in the cellar, magnifying the most authentic expression of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir with elegance, precision and a rare finesse.
Barons de Rothschild champagnes also derive their uniqueness from the significant proportion of reserve wines (over 40%) used in non-vintage cuvees. This rare proportion in Champagne offers a richness and depth which mingle harmoniously with the freshness, balance and finesse of the Champagne grape varieties.
The Barons de Rothschild Champagne House lies at the crossroads between know-how and tradition, unveiling cuvees with dosages between 1.5 and 6g/liter, among the lowest in Champagne, with a unique style alongside a finesse, harmony and purity which will delight the finest connoisseurs.
