Discover the Range of Chardonnay Wine
Chardonnay is the most widely planted and diverse grape variety, producing wines in a large range of styles, from crisp and mineral to rich and full-bodied whites. Chardonnay is a “blank slate” grape for winemakers, allowing for a range of techniques and styles to shine through. Malolactic fermentation creates a rounder profile on the palate, while use of oak can create a bolder style wine.
The Millesima team has chosen three of our favorite expressions of the grape from different regions of the world to include in our Chardonnay Wine Gift Set. Cool climates such as Burgundy produce lean examples of Chardonnay with bright minerality and green apple flavors. In contrast, warmer regions, such as California, produce Chardonnay with more tropical fruit flavors, such as peach and pineapple. In the Upper Galilee, where the Chardonnay vineyards are characterized by poor soil and relatively low temperatures, the wines offers oaky aromas.
The Chardonnay Wine Gift Set contains three unique bottles: Grgich Hills Estate is situated in the very heart of Northern California’s Napa Valley region; Olivier Leflaive is a negociant house in Burgundy's Côte d'Or and produces a wide range of wines across a range of quality levels; and Domaine du Pelican produces a select range of white wines from the flagship Savagnin region of Jura, as well as Chardonnay wines that rival some of the best white Burgundies.
