Discover Elegant Bordeaux Wines
The wine appellations of Bordeaux are divided into Left and Right Bank appellations, based on which side of the Gironde River the vineyards occupy. The Left Bank is known for its gravel and graphite soils perfect for cultivating Cabernet Sauvignon, which is known for its longevity and ability to age. Meanwhile, the Right Bank has more clay soils, in which the plump and supple Merlot grape thrives.
The Millesima team has hand-selected bottles from both the Left and Right Banks to feature in our Bordeaux Classic Wine Gift Set. The Left Bank offers wines from famous appellations such as Saint-Julien, Pauillac, Saint-Estephe and Margaux. Saint-Julien wines are bold and express a complex bouquet. Margaux, one of the most prestigious Medoc appellations, stands outs for its supple yet complex wines with a beautiful palette of flavors. The Right Bank is home to the unique terroir of Pomerol, where wines are distinguished by their velvety and complex bouquet of cherries and fresh flowers.
The Bordeaux Classic Wine Gift Set contains three unique bottles from well-known producers: Chateau Giscours, classified as a Third Growth Chateau in 1855, is one of the crown jewels of the Margaux appellation; Chateau Latour-Martillac is a classified growth in the Pessac-Leognan appellation ; Chateau Haut-Marbuzet is a cru bourgeois located In the Saint-Estephe appellation.
Chateau Giscours Margaux 2014
Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot - Medoc
The 2014 Chateau Giscours is a very expressive, scrumptious Margaux Troisième Cru Classé on an aromatic palette rich of black fruits (smashed blackberry, blackcurrant) and red berry (wild raspberry) on some balsamic fragrances. The palate carries a delicate tannic structure, both strong (sap with tight and fine grain) and pleasant on the finish. The well-extracted tannins build a solid structure in this classic yet strong wine. The balanced whole foreshadows a good ageing potential.
Chateau Latour-Martillac Pessac-Leognan 2015
Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot - Pessac-Leognan
Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, the 2015 Latour Martillac has a spicy nose of cinnamon stick, cloves and aniseed with a core of red and black cherries and a waft of fragrant earth. The palate is medium-bodied with plenty of juicy fruit and a firm frame of fine-grained tannins with bags of freshness lifting the finish.
Chateau Haut-Marbuzet Saint-Estephe 2014
Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc - Medoc
The 2014 Chateau Haut-Marbuzet maintains its charming wine reputation. This Saint-Estèphe is subtly feminine in its aromatic expressions without denying the sappy tannic structure, specific to the appellation. The nose is very floral at first and then opens up on a range of black fruits and a mineral hint (graphite), on a good aromatic freshness. The palate is soft with a well-extracted sappy, tannic structure with well-proportioned grain. This is a strong wine with a good ageing potential
