For 25 years, Robert Sinskey has grown 100% organic and Biodynamic fruit for his wines, expanding his holdings from a scale that registered slightly above hobbyist to over 200 acres of premium vineyards in the Stags Leap and Carneros districts of Napa and Sonoma valleys. Sinskey, a California native, had his first taste of winegrowing when his father asked for his help managing a fledgling grape-growing business. Rob was hooked immediately. Beginning in 1991 Robert Sinskey Vineyards began converting their vineyards to organic methods and over the course of a number of years began to develop biodynamic "whole farm" practices, seeking not only to produce wines of individual characters, but also to leave a minimal imprint on the land, and so a system of cover crops, composts, the utilization of farm animals and low impact equipment are all standard. Additionally, Robert Sinskey Vineyards now generates 75% of the energy used at the winery.
