Description
A Full-Bodied Napa Cabernet with Red Fruit and Violet Aromas
With its inaugural vintage taking place in 1997, BOND is the creation of legendary Napa Valley vintner Bill Harlan. The BOND winery finished construction in time for the 2000 harvest, while the 3 vintages before were produced at the famous Harlan Estates. The BOND selection today is comprised of five single-vineyard, single-variety wines of Cabernet Sauvignon, each one expressing the unique characteristics of its Napa Valley terroir of origin. The Melbury 2014 of BOND is a single-variety Cabernet Sauvignon wine made with fruit from the 7-acre Melbury vineyard. Planted in 1991, the vines face south-southeast and are planted on a hillside at altitudes between 400 and 500 feet. The soil here is predominantly composed of clay. The wines from this site are widely cherished for their elegant, charming and lively nature. They are known to exude plush aromas of red fruits and fresh violets.
The BOND Melbury 2014 shows off a deep, opaque purple hue in the glass. Aromas of juicy black cherries, blackcurrants and blueberry liqueur are accompanied by floral touches of lilacs and violets, as well as spicy hints of black licorice in a bouquet that is intense and multidirectional. On the palate, this wine is full-bodied, with concentrated flavors, achieving the perfect balance of power and elegance. The tannins here are quite fine, leading to a finish with wonderful length. This Napa Cab is built to age, best enjoyed after at least 5-7 years of age, but easily lasting 30-35.
