The Campbell Ranch Vineyard Pinot Noir 2016 from Anthill Farms is a single-varietal red wine made of Pinot Noir. The grapes are grown in the Campbell Ranch Vineyard of California, located just a few miles from the Pacific Coast. The vines are aged 20 years old on average and are planted at an elevation of 750 feet above sea level. Here, the cool, coastal climate delays the ripening of the fruit, allowing for a slow, gradual development of maturity, which results in a great complexity in the finished wines. The vines grow in sandy Goldridge soil and the yields are very low, only around 2 tons per acre. This results in a more concentrated aromatic bouquet and deeper color in the glass.
The Anthill Farms Campbell Ranch Vineyard Pinot Noir 2016 is a pungent and bold wine, expressing several layers of fruit, along with savory aromas, all nicely balanced. On the nose, this Californian Pinot Noir exudes intense fruit flavors (raspberries), along with crushed flowers, pine leaves, mint and touches of oak. The wine offers a wonderful depth and intensity, followed by a beautifully textured and intesely flavorful finish.
