Description
The Anthill Farms Campbell Ranch Vineyard Pinot Noir 2015: An intense coastal Pinot Noir
The Campbell Ranch Vineyard Pinot Noir 2015 from Anthill Farms is a single-varietal wine made with Pinot Noir. The grapes are sourced from the Campbell Ranch Vineyard, a few miles from the Pacific Ocean. The vines, 20 years old on average, are planted 750 feet above sea level. The cool, coastal climate of the region delays ripening and allows for a gradual development of maturity in the fruit. The vines are planted in sandy Goldridge soil, which reduces yields to only 2 tons per acre. This results in more concentrated and complex wines.
The Anthill Farms Campbell Ranch Vineyard Pinot Noir 2015 is an intense and powerful coastal Pinot Noir, opening enormously on the nose with even just the slightest agitation. When open, this wine offers hints of fir bark, garrigue, and osmanthus tea. The palate is very elegant and long, producing prominent flavors of raspberry and cider apple, along with hints of black pepper. This Pinot Noir offers a tannic bite, and a very long, seductive finish. To be consumed either young or kept for 3-8 years.
