Description

California Rosé Bursting with Grapefruit and Citrus

Le P’tit Paysan is one of three labels under the Brand Family Winery located in the Monterey AVA of California. Founded by Ian Brand who moved from Utah to California and worked in a few different wineries before creating his own in 2008. Brand is known for his progressive approaches in viticulture and bringing the lesser known Monterey AVA to light with his lively and exciting wines. The first label he created was Le P’tit Paysan that is French inspired. He then created two other labels La Marea and I Brand that are Spanish and California inspired wines, respectively. Ian prides himself on his sensible farming practices and being as hands off as possible to let the terroir shine through on the wines. He said his goal is to “lightly polish the roughest edgeds and leave the idiosyncrasy intact.”

The Le P’tit Paysan Rosé is made up of Mourvèdre, Grenache and Cinsault. The Mourvèdre comes from two different vineyard sites – one on the foothills of the Santa Cruz Mountains with rocky, alluvial soils and the other from San Benito in limestone soils. The Grenache and Cinsault both come from granite soils. The juice is fermented at several varying temperature to create a diverse set of flavors and textures. The wine itself is delicious! Bursting with grapefruit, lemon, lime zest and green apple flavors, it is crisp and refreshing. Notes of mineratlity and acidity on the back end create a complex and exciting summer sipper. Pair this with seafood, chicken dishes or with a charcuterie board.
