Description
A white wine from Pauillac with an extremely persistent finish
A white wine from château Lynch-Bages, Blanc de Lynch-Bages benefits from a vineyard planted on the gravelly banks of the Garonne. The 2016 vintage of Blanc de Lynch-Bages consists of a blend of 52% Sauvignon Blanc, 30% Sémillon and 18% Muscadelle. The wine is aged in barrels, out of which 50% are new barrels.
The climatic conditions of the 2016 vintage of Lynch-Bages Blanc were marked by extremes. A mild, rainy winter that resulted in early budburst was followed by a cool and equally rainy spring, slowing down the development of the vines. However, a window of good weather in early June allowed for a perfectly even flowering. The summer came very late in June and was characterized by heat and drought. With the grapes having reached optimal maturity, harvest began on September 13th and continued to the 20th without the evening showers causing any serious damage.
The Blanc de Lynch-Bages 2016 displays a pale yellow color with shades of green. The nose develops aromas of citrus and exotic fruits, with subtle hints of sweet spices. Fresh on the palate, this wine is generous due to the Sémillon. The Blanc de Lynch-Bages 2016 offers a very long and lingering finish.
