Second Wine of the prestigious Grand Cru Classe of Pauillac - Chateau Lynch-Bages- the Echo de Lynch-Bages 2018 is in line with the great vintages of this estate, located on the left bank of Bordeaux.
A two-stroke vintage, 2018 will be remembered for its rainy winter, followed by heavy rainfall during the spring. The second act began in July, with the arrival of a radiant summer that lasted until the grape harvest. The harvest began under perfect conditions on September 19th with the Merlot and ended on October 9th. The fruit was perfectly healthy, with a nice richness in sugars and polyphenols.
The Echo de Lynch-Bages 2018 blends Cabernet Sauvignon (62%), with Merlot (36%) and Cabernet Franc (2%). The wine is aged for 12 months in French oak barrels of one previous wine.
Product of a very good year for Bordeaux, the Echo de Lynch-Bages 2018 presents the distinctive qualities of a great wines from Pauillac. The intensely expressive aromatic bouquet is outlined by notes of black fruit and spicy notes. On the palate, an aromatic complexity combines with a strong tannic structure. A very good vintage for Echo de Lynch-Bages.
Composed of 62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 36% Merlot and 2% Cabernet Franc and without any new oak, the very deep purple-black colored 2018 Echo de Lynch Bages rolls seductively out of the glass with fragrant notes of candied violets, rose hip tea and fragrant soil over a core of crushed blackberries, warm blackcurrants and kirsch plus wafts of chocolate mint and crushed rocks. Full, rich, wonderfully concentrated and well structured, it has a solid backbone of firm, grainy tannins and bold freshness, finishing long.
