Description
In 1930, founder Gaston Hochar established Chateau Musar after planting a plot of vines north of Bekka Valley. Inspired by Lebanon’s long tradition in winemaking and recent travels to Bordeaux, Hochar looked to harmoniously combine these two winemaking ideologies together to create beautiful terroir driven wines.
Today, the Hochar family has 180 hectares of organically certified vineyards and produces wines under the philosophy of minimal human intervention allowing for the environment and terroir to shine. The vineyards of Chateau Musar benefit from relatively high altitudes, a Mediterranean climate and calcareous gravel soils allowing for the vines to thrive.
The Chateau Musar, Musar Jeune Red is a gorgeous blend of youthful Cinsault, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes from their Bekka Valley. This wine is unoaked and fruit forward, with notes of blackberry, raspberry, blackcurrant and cherry. It has a bit of a warm spicy undertone with a strong yet refined finish. The wine itself is fermented in cement vats and aged for one year before bottling. First bottled in 2007, the Musar Jeune cuvees are meant to be enjoyed young with their vibrant fruit style.
