The Refinement and Precision of a Great Saint-Estephe

Great wines are born from great terroirs and the emblematic Chateau Calon Ségur is no exception. Located in the heart of the prestigious Saint-Estephe appellation on the Left Bank of the Bordeaux region, this Third Grand Cru Classe of the Official Ranking of 1855 is one of the most famous and beloved brands of Medoc, as depicted by the heart-shaped label that has become quite symbolic of the property.

Led by the talented Vincent Millet since 2006 and with the winemaking supervised by the experienced oenologist Eric Boissenot, Chateau Calon Segur has established itself as a great estate, joining the ranks of the most beautiful references of the appellation.

With its typical Medoc-style blend marked by the imprint of Cabernet Sauvignon (76%), complemented by Merlot (13%), Cabernet Franc (9%) and Petit Verdot (2%), the Chateau Calon Segur 2017 reveals all the magic of this remarkable estate. The power of the terroir is masterfully expressed, thanks to the great talent of the technical teams. The soft extractions result in fresh and intense aromas, making Chateau Calon Segur 2017 one of the most beautiful revelations of the appellation, even in a challenging vintage. A Saint-Estephe at the peak of elegance and complexity.

Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, the 2017 Calon-Ségur features warm plums, cassis, baked cherries and mulberries, earth, meats and cedar on the nose with notes of lavender and olives. The palate is medium-bodied, elegant and intense with firm, fine-grained tannins and great length, finishing minerally. This wine was aged in 100% new French oak barrels for 20 months. The blend is 76% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Merlot, 2% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot.
