The 2002 vintage reveals ripe apricots and pears interwoven with floral, buttery aromatics. Most of the wine’s appeal is upfront, as its persistence drops off quite a bit on the mid-palate. This is Lot 5102746, disgorged between February and March, 2006. In 2002, the blend is 60% Pinot Noir, 7% Pinot Meunier and 33% Chardonnay with 9 grams of dosage. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2012. Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin is one of Champagne’s best-known brands thanks to the success of its “yellow label” non-vintage wine and the tête de cuvée La Grande Dame. The 2002 vintage produced a dense Champagne with lovely length, fairly straight, with great depth, still very youthful. Built for very long aging.

Description

The robe of this Veuve Clicquot Vintage 2002 literally sparkles with its delicately golden colour with silver hues. On the nose, it offers a complex bouquet of floral notes, emphasizing the outstanding mineral aspect of the wine. Then fruity flavours appear. Hints of patisserie-like aromas can be felt, such as brioche and frangipane. The bouquet if finally enhanced by spicy and racy notes. On the palate, flavours explode, matching fruity and floral aspects, mineral and spicy, mint and toast, among many others. The length of the Veuve Clicquot Vintage 2002 is surprisingly intense.
