Description
An exceptional rosé champagne, seductive in its freshness and indulgence
The estate
Founded in 1776 in Reims, the Louis Roederer Champagne House has remained family-owned and independent. After more than 200 years of existence, the Louis Roederer House is still in the hands of the same family. Today led by Frédéric Rouzaud, who represents the seventh generation of the lineage, the Louis Roederer House embodies the excellence of Champagne wines around the world thanks to cuvées crafted like a work of art.
The vineyard
With nearly 241 hectares of vines, the Louis Roederer House draws its strength from its extraordinary vineyard, composed solely of Grands and Premiers Crus in the Marne Valley, the Montagne de Reims and the Côte des Blancs. A true mosaic of terroirs, the Louis Roederer House's vineyard is divided into 410 plots that reflect the full diversity of the soils of the Champagne region.
The wine
In order to extend the harmonious search for the ideal balance, the Louis Roederer House keeps a limited quantity of exceptional bottles in its cellars for 20 years. Benefiting from this exceptional aging, the Cristal Vinothèque Rosé cuvées from Louis Roederer develop year after year, in the silence and darkness of the house's cellars, an aromatic complexity and an uncommon maturity.
Vinification and aging
Vinification is carried out under wood to the extent of 20%. No malolactic fermentation. The cuvée was aged for 11 years on lees, 5 years on points and benefited from a rest of 4 years after disgorging. The dosage of this 2002 vintage champagne is 8 g/liter.
Blend
Pinot Noir (56%)
Chardonnay (44%)
Characteristics and tasting advice for the Cristal Vinothèque Rosé 2002 from the Louis Roederer House
Tasting
Color
The color is a beautiful pink with lovely coppery reflections. The effervescence is fine and elegant.
Nose
Delicate and aromatic, the nose reveals an intense freshness, blending sublime aromas of tart red fruits and citrus. On aeration, notes of peony, gingerbread, cocoa bean and cedar are revealed.
Palate
The palate is lively, dense and refreshing. The freshness still predominates, but this time it is carried by tart red fruits, notably pomegranate. Then the effervescence and the substance appear, silky and intense.
