Description
A Blanc de Blancs champagne marked by precision and concentration
The estate
Founded in 1776 in Reims, the House of Champagne Louis Roederer has remained family-owned and independent. After more than 200 years of existence, the House of Louis Roederer is still in the hands of the same family. Now led by Frédéric Rouzaud, who represents the seventh generation of the lineage, the House of Louis Roederer embodies the excellence of Champagne wines around the world through cuvées crafted like works of art.
The vineyard
With nearly 241 hectares of vines, the House of Louis Roederer draws its strength from its extraordinary vineyard, made up exclusively of Grand and Premier Cru vines in the Vallée de la Marne, the Montagne de Reims, and the Côte des Blancs. A true mosaic of terroirs, the Louis Roederer vineyard is divided into 410 plots that reflect the full diversity of Champagne's soils.
The wine
Crafted from the "La Côte" vineyard, this Blanc de Blancs champagne offers, through its precision and aromatic purity, a rare and delicate expression of the nuances and identity of Avize's characteristic chalky terroir.
The vintage
A mild and humid start to the year preceded a particularly hot and dry summer. Providentially, the rainfall recorded during the second half of August encouraged gradual, even ripening, giving rise to grapes of superb concentration. An exceptional vintage in this year marking the recognition of Champagne as a UNESCO World Heritage site!
Winemaking and aging
Vinification is carried out in wood for 16% of the blend. No malolactic fermentation. The dosage of this 2015 vintage cuvée is 8 g/liter.
Blend
Chardonnay (100%).
Characteristics and tasting notes for the Louis Roederer Blanc de Blancs 2015
Tasting notes
Appearance
Luminous, the beautiful yellow hue is adorned with subtle green highlights. The effervescence is remarkably fine.
Nose
The nose captivates with its precision and its smooth minerality. Ripe citrus (citron), white flowers, almond, and wheat all blend harmoniously together. As it opens up, the bouquet releases refreshing minty, iodized notes, followed gradually by smoky, warm butter, and toasted nuances.
Palate
A creamy, concentrated attack precedes a rich, persistent, and delicate palate. A subtle powdery texture is underpinned by woody, smoky flavors. The finish seduces with its aromatic purity and freshness.
