Description
Tasting Characteristics and Advice for Réserve de la Terre by Telmont
Tasting Notes
Appearance
A bright pale yellow hue with golden highlights, enhanced by a fine, steady stream of bubbles.
Nose
The aromatic bouquet opens with fresh white fruit scents, such as pear and green apple, mingled with notes of citrus and anise. With aeration, more indulgent touches of honey, green banana and buttery brioche emerge.
Palate
The attack is lively and crisp, evolving into a texture that is both rich and mineral. Delicate notes of yuzu zest and a subtle smoky touch accompany an elegant effervescence. The finish, tangy and saline, offers beautiful length that is sparkling and full of freshness.
Food and Wine Pairings
This cuvée pairs wonderfully with seafood, oysters or a white fish ceviche. It also goes very well with roasted poultry, white meats or lightly aged hard cheeses such as a young Comté.
Serving and Cellaring
The non-vintage Réserve de la Terre is ideally enjoyed as an aperitif, but its rich structure and vinosity also allow it to accompany an entire meal with elegance.
An Organic, Solar-Powered Champagne from an Exceptional Terroir
The Estate
Founded in 1912 in Damery, the House of Telmont cultivates excellence in the Marne Valley. Led by Ludovic du Plessis and Bertrand Lhôpital, this brand has been majority-owned by the Rémy Cointreau group since 2020, with a stake held by Leonardo DiCaprio. A pioneer in ecology, the estate relies on 24.5 hectares of its own vineyards and 56.5 hectares farmed by partners. It stands out for its radical environmental commitment, aiming for full organic conversion and a reduced carbon footprint.
The Vineyard
Located at the heart of Champagne, the vineyard extends mainly across the Marne Valley, with clay-limestone soils composed of chalk, silt and sand. The organic grapes come from several crus: Damery (45%), Cuchery (21%), Mareuil-sur-Aÿ (17%), Boursault (9%) and Avenay (8%). Vine management promotes biodiversity through natural grass cover and hedge planting, with no herbicides used.
The Blend
This cuvée is crafted from a blend of three harvest years. It is composed primarily of the 2020 vintage, making up 70%, complemented by 15% of 2019 wines and 15% of 2018 wines.
Winemaking and Aging
Crafted with the utmost respect for the environment, the non-vintage Réserve de la Terre benefits from extended cellar aging. The wines rest on laths for three years (36 months) before disgorgement, allowing for the development of great aromatic complexity and refining the bubbles.
Grape Varieties
The blend showcases the region's three signature varieties: 44% Meunier, 34% Chardonnay and 22% Pinot Noir.
