Description
Characteristics and Tasting Notes of the Spécial Club Premier Cru Brut 2020 Marc Hébrart
Tasting
Color
The wine shows a bright golden hue, lifted by a fine, abundant effervescence that forms a delicate, persistent cordon in the glass, with a creamy mousse on the palate.
Nose
The nose opens with an expressive bouquet of white flowers and stone fruit, joined by citrus zest, brioche and pastry notes. With aeration, the aromas evolve toward almond, honey and a chalky minerality.
Palate
The palate is rich yet fresh, carried by a silky texture and well-balanced acidity, with a light touch of salinity that enhances the mineral character. The finish is long and complex, closing on citrus and stony mineral notes.
Food and wine pairings
This champagne is well suited to the aperitif and pairs naturally with smoked salmon and other delicate seafood. Its creamy texture also makes it a fitting companion for white meats served with cream or mushroom-based sauces.
Serving and cellaring
The Spécial Club Premier Cru Brut 2020 is best enjoyed at a serving temperature of around 10 to 12°C, allowing its aromatic complexity to unfold gradually in the glass.
Other characteristics
This champagne has an alcohol content of 12.5% by volume and a brut dosage of approximately 5 to 6 grams per liter, placing it in a dry, well-balanced style.
A Champagne Premier Cru from Mareuil-sur-Aÿ, Built Around Pinot Noir
The Estate
Champagne Marc Hébrart was established in 1964, when the Hébrart family, long-time grape growers in Mareuil-sur-Aÿ, began bottling champagne under its own name. In 1997, the family estates merged, and Jean-Paul Hébrart has since led the house. Based in the Marne Valley, the estate spans close to 15 hectares across Premier and Grand Cru sites and is a member of the Club Trésors de Champagne.
The Vineyard
The grapes for this Champagne Premier Cru come from old vines, mostly over 50 years of age, planted in the Premier Cru village of Mareuil-sur-Aÿ, with additional parcels in the Grand Cru sites of Aÿ and Louvois. This combination of terroirs provides the structure and finesse found in the finished wine.
Winemaking and aging
The Spécial Club Premier Cru Brut 2020 is vinified parcel by parcel in stainless steel tanks, with malolactic fermentation fully completed. The wine is then aged on its lees for around 36 months before disgorgement, which took place in 2024.
Grape Varieties
This champagne is a blend dominated by pinot noir, representing roughly 60 to 70% of the assemblage, completed by chardonnay at approximately 30 to 40%.
