Domaine Fontaine-Gagnard Wines : Key Points

Founded by Laurence Gagnard and Richard Fontaine in 1985, the Gagnard family apply their boundless expertise to their 12-hectare (30 acres) vineyard, spreading across 22 appellations in and around the villages of Chassagne-Montrachet, Volnay and Pommard. Passed on to their daughter Celine in 2007, the teams work tirelessly all year round and apply an array of practices to ensure that the harvest is as fruitful as can be, year in, year out. Pruning, checking the soil regularly, replanting vines, applying sustainable viticultural practices all enable the vines to flourish in these illustrious Burgundy terroirs.

The teams apply traditional methods throughout the vinification process: indigenous yeasts are added during fermentation and the wines are aged for 12 to 18 months in oak barrels. 15-20% of new oak barrels are used for the production of wines from the Village appellation and 30-40% for the Premiers and Grands Crus wines.
