Description
A vintage Blanc de Noirs of seductive finesse and structure
The estate
The Krug Champagne House was founded in 1843 by Joseph Krug, a visionary and passionate man. It holds a library unique in the world, made up of more than 150 reserve wines, some of which are aged over 15 years.
The vineyard
With more than 250 different plots, including the prestigious Clos du Mesnil and Clos d'Ambonnay, the Krug House holds an exceptional heritage of vines in Champagne.
The wine
Of great rarity, this champagne exalts the expression of a single 0.68-hectare Pinot Noir plot called the Clos d'Ambonnay and comes from a single year, 2006. Krug Clos d'Ambonnay 2006 Champagne represents the sixth edition from this unique Pinot Noir plot. The first edition of this prestigious champagne was born from the 1995 harvest. To celebrate the 2006 vintage, the Krug House produced 4,514 bottles, each individually numbered.
The vintage
In 2006, Champagne was marked by an intense heat wave, experiencing extreme temperatures with 23 days exceeding 30°C. The unpredictable climate oscillated between periods of intense drought and abundant rainfall. Fortunately, the season closed out with sunny weather. During the harvest, the grapes displayed a remarkable degree of ripeness, comparable to that of the 2002 and 1989 vintages, particularly generous and fruitful years.
The grape variety
This 2006 vintage champagne is 100% Pinot Noir
