The estate
The Krug Champagne House was founded in 1843 by Joseph Krug, a visionary and passionate man. It holds a unique library in the world consisting of more than 150 reserve wines, some of which are over 15 years old.
The vineyard
With more than 250 different plots including the prestigious Clos du Mesnil and Clos d’Ambonnay, the Krug House holds a heritage of exceptional vines in Champagne.
The wine
To the great delight of collectors, an extremely limited number of Krug Vintage bottles are carefully kept under optimal conditions in the Maison's cellars. These bottles are meticulously tasted and evaluated, awaiting to blossom in a second life.
The vintage
After four years of climatic challenges, 1995 was a blessing for Champagne, with a mild winter, a warm spring, and a summer marked by intense heat, contributing to the production of fruits with exceptional freshness and character.
The grape variety
Pinot Noir (48%)
Chardonnay (35%)
Pinot Meunier (17%)
Characteristics and tasting advice of the 1995 Collection from the Krug House
Tasting
Color
The Krug Collection 1995 displays a bright pale golden color.
Nose
On the nose, it releases aromas of cocoa, accompanied by notes of orange marmalade and biscuits.
Palate
On the palate, it reveals exquisite flavors of pastries, buttery madeleines, and candied orange, gradually evolving towards a hint of bitter orange. This delightful contrast is magnified by a finish of remarkable freshness.
