Description
Tasting Notes and Characteristics of Petite Fleur NM (Non-Vintage) by Fleur de Miraval
Tasting
Color
The Petite Fleur NM (Non Millésimé) displays the pale, delicate rosé hue typical of a champagne built around a majority of chardonnay, with only a touch of pinot noir for color.
Nose
The nose opens on a bright and floral character, with juicy, lively fruit notes that reflect the youthful, immediate expression sought by the estate for this cuvée.
Palate
On the palate, the wine reveals the chalky purity and saline tension typical of the Côte des Blancs, carried by a fine, delicate mousse. The structure stays precise and fresh, favoring verticality over richness, in keeping with the house's style built on chardonnay rather than pinot noir.
Food and wine pairings
Petite Fleur NM (Non Millésimé) is particularly suited to the aperitif hour and festive gatherings, where its bright, spontaneous fruit character and lively mousse can be fully appreciated.
Serving and cellaring
Petite Fleur NM (Non Millésimé) does not require decanting and is best enjoyed in its youthful freshness. No official aging or cellaring recommendation has been published by the estate for this cuvée.
Other characteristics
This rosé champagne is produced in a Brut style, with a notably low dosage ranging between 4 and 4.5 grams per liter depending on the release, underlining the house's preference for tension and freshness over sweetness.
A Rosé Champagne from Fleur de Miraval, Shaped by the Chalk of the Côte des Blancs
The Estate
Fleur de Miraval is a champagne house launched in 2020 in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, in the heart of the Côte des Blancs, born from the partnership between Brad Pitt, the Perrin family and the Péters family. Marc Perrin serves as president while Rodolphe Péters, also at the helm of Champagne Pierre Péters, acts as general director and cellar master. Fleur de Miraval operates as a négociant house, sourcing grapes rather than owning vineyards, and produces around 35,000 bottles a year across its two cuvées, ER and Petite Fleur.
The Vineyard
The grapes used for this champagne, grown under the Champagne appellation, come from the chalky soils of the Côte des Blancs, with a predominance of Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, selected among premier cru and grand cru plots. The small portion of pinot noir originates from Vertus, a premier cru village bordering the Côte des Blancs, chosen for its freshness and chalky imprint.
Blend
As a non-vintage cuvée, Petite Fleur NM (Non Millésimé) has been produced from different base years since its creation. The first release relied on a 2019 base, disgorged in 2023, while a subsequent release used a 2020 base, disgorged in 2024. Both versions incorporate a portion of perpetual reserve chardonnay to add depth and continuity of style across editions.
Winemaking and aging
For Petite Fleur NM (Non Millésimé), the pinot noir component is vinified as a red wine with a very gentle infusion, aimed at preserving fruit purity without adding tannic structure. The chardonnay base is blended with chardonnay drawn from the house's perpetual reserve, without recourse to the "Remise en Cercle" technique used for the ER cuvée. The wine is aged on lees for three to four years, depending on the release, before disgorgement.
Grape Varieties
This cuvée is built around a strong majority of chardonnay, representing 95 % of the blend, complemented by 5 % pinot noir vinified as a red wine.
