Description
An exceptional duo of vintage champagnes
The estate
Named after the celebrated monk Pierre Pérignon, procurator of the Abbey of Hautvillers in 1668, Dom Pérignon champagne symbolizes a rich heritage and a ceaseless pursuit of excellence. This visionary monk is often credited with the discovery of the méthode champenoise, a crucial milestone in the history of Champagne. Dom Pérignon's commitment to quality and innovation endures, embodied by its current Chef de Cave, Vincent Chaperon, who took up the torch in 2019. The House's philosophy, centered on the expression of vintages, reflects an ambition to create the "best wine in the world," a goal pursued ever since Dom Pierre Pérignon was appointed cellarer of the Abbey of Hautvillers.
Vintage Duo 2013 & 2015
These emblematic cuvées, acclaimed for their excellence by the most discerning connoisseurs, each celebrate the pure and authentic expression of their vintage in Champagne.
Bringing together the 2013 and 2015 cuvées of Dom Pérignon in a single gift box thus orchestrates the meeting of two distinct personalities, two complementary expressions of the same quest for balance.
The 2013 vintage revives a forgotten tradition: that of the great late years. Its growing cycle, disrupted by particularly wet winter and spring months that delayed flowering, then set ablaze by a summer heatwave, found its salvation in an easterly wind that swept away the first rains of September, preserving the integrity of the grapes right up to harvest. Picked in October, this harvest reveals all the aristocratic purity of Chardonnay and the chiseled vivacity of Pinot Noir.
The 2015 vintage, for its part, embodies a deliberate break with tradition and marks the advent of summer harvests. After a winter in line with seasonal averages and a still-cool start to spring, the year tipped into remarkable aridity, reaching its peak in one of the hottest Augusts of the past half-century. This demanding harvest, gathered under pressure, nonetheless delivered Pinot Noirs of exemplary structure and rich fruit, alongside Chardonnays that are both captivating and dynamic.
Together, these two bottles compose an experience of striking contrasts: the luminous precision of 2013 stands against the generous, full-bodied richness of 2015. Two climatic stories in mirror image, yet united by the same mineral signature and an intensity that never wavers.
Vinification and aging
The vinification process at Dom Pérignon scrupulously follows the principles of the méthode champenoise, with an absolute commitment to the faithful representation of the vintage. Extended maturation in the cellar, a resting period that far exceeds the appellation's requirements, allows this champagne to develop its complexity and aromatic depth.
Blend
These exceptional champagnes are the result of a secret blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
