Description
The delicacy and balance of a great rosé Champagne
The estate
The Champagne house Deutz was founded in 1838 in Aÿ by two Prussians, one of whom was William Deutz. One was a wine merchant and the other sold Champagne. It is worth noting that the winemaking process at the Deutz Champagne house was already being managed by these two founders, including bottling, disgorgement, dosage, and labeling, even before they owned their own champagne and vineyards. Today, the Deutz Champagne house belongs to the renowned Roederer family.
The vineyard
The Deutz Champagne house's estate spans over 300 hectares. The vineyard is made up of Grand Cru and Premier Cru sites in Champagne, and Deutz's vines are cultivated today according to the principles of sustainable viticulture.
Winemaking and aging
Deutz Brut Rosé is aged for 3 years on the lees.
Blend
Deutz's Sakura Brut Rosé Champagne is crafted from a blend that is predominantly Pinot Noir (90%), rounded out by a touch of Chardonnay (10%). These grapes come from Premier and Grand Cru sites in Champagne. The Pinot Noir grapes come from the terroirs of Aÿ, Mareuil-sur-Aÿ, Avenay, Bouzy, Ambonnay, Verzenay, and Tauxières. The Chardonnay comes from the Côte des Blancs-Avize, mainly from Villeneuve-Renneville and Vertus.
The distinctive style of Sakura Brut Rosé by Deutz comes from the addition of red wine during the blending process. This cuvée, crafted by the Deutz Cellar Master, is made from the Pierre Robert and La Pelle plots in Aÿ, as well as the Cumaine, Vaularon, and Mutry plots in Mareuil-sur-Aÿ.
