Description
Charles Heidsieck crafts an aromatic and refined Blanc de Blancs
The estate
An essential reference, the House of Champagne Charles Heidsieck watches over a prestigious heritage with chalk cellars over two thousand years old. As a pioneer, Charles Heidsieck distinguished itself from the late 1980s by highlighting the exceptional aromatic aging potential of its multi-vintage Brut champagne. In 1987, Charles Heidsieck thus became the first Champagne house to indicate the "cellaring" year in order to track the wine's evolution over time.
The vineyard
The House of Charles Heidsieck owns approximately 60 hectares of vineyards in the Marne and Aube. This vineyard benefits from sustainable viticulture accreditation as well as High Environmental Value certification. In addition to its own vineyards and, following the Champagne model, Charles Heidsieck meets its remaining needs through long-term supply contracts with carefully selected winegrowers and cooperatives in Champagne.
The wine
An emblematic cuvée of the house, the Blanc de Blancs pays tribute to the expertise of Charles Heidsieck. Indeed, it was in 1949, under the guidance of Charles-Marcel, Charles Heidsieck's grandson, that the house became one of the pioneers in Champagne by creating the first Blanc de Blancs. In 2018, the house of Charles Heidsieck decided to reintroduce the Blanc de Blancs to celebrate great champagnes and the art of blending, two crafts perfectly mastered by the house.
Blend
Enhancing the nobility of Chardonnay, the Charles Heidsieck Blanc de Blancs is composed of 25% reserve wines, which blend in perfect harmony with the youthfulness of the current year's wines. The Charles Heidsieck Blanc de Blancs achieves its incomparable patina, the hallmark of the house, through a long maturation in the coolness of the house's chalk cellars.
Characteristics and tasting notes for the Charles Heidsieck Blanc de Blancs
Tasting notes
Appearance
Crystalline, the color is a delicate pale gold, adorned with luminous highlights.
Nose
Complex, the aromatic bouquet reveals notes of ripe fruit reminiscent of vine peach and candied citrus, along with subtle scents of white flowers (linden, honeysuckle) and fresh hazelnuts. With aeration, delicious citrus notes (mandarin, lemon) gradually emerge.
Palate
The palate seduces with its freshness, tension, and velvety, enveloping texture. The lingering finish combines a delicious minerality with mouthwatering saline notes. An elegant, taut, and delightfully generous Blanc de Blancs.
