Description
A seductive, smooth and complex Californian Second Wine
The estate
The fruit of a common goal, Opus One arose from the vision of two illustrious figures in the wine industry, Baron Philippe de Rothschild of Château Mouton Rothschild and Robert Mondavi, an iconic winemaker from the Napa Valley.
The vineyard
Opus One has become a legendary Californian wine, and comes from vineyards located in the heart of the Oakville appellation. A true "Grand Cru", Opus One embodies the excellence of two winemaking traditions that have come together to create a quintessential, one-of-a-kind and exceptional wine.
The wine
Produced since 1993, Overture is the Second Wine of Opus One. Produced with the same rigour as its predecessor, this wine expresses the technical know-how of the estate as well as the identity of the great Californian terroirs through the several vintages that make up its blend.
Vinification and ageing
Aged in French oak barrels (100% new) as well as small quantities of second and third-fill barrels.
The blend
Merlot
Petit Verdot
Cabernet Franc
Malbec.

This Californian wine seduces with its aromatic richness. Tasty fruity notes (fresh red fruit, cherry, red currant) harmoniously blend with more complex notes of ground cocoa, cedar and vanilla.
