A Puligny-Montrachet Village from Louis Jadot, Rooted in the Côte de Beaune
The Estate
Founded in 1859 in Beaune, Burgundy, Louis Jadot has grown into one of the region's most recognizable negociant houses, cultivating close to 230 hectares of vines across Burgundy, the Beaujolais, and the Mâconnais. Owned since 1985 by the Kopf family, the house is led today by president Thomas Seiter alongside general manager Thibault Gagey. Its labels, marked by a distinctive Bacchus head emblem, cover nearly 150 cuvées, from regional appellations to grand crus.
The Vineyard
This Puligny-Montrachet comes from vineyards planted on gently east-facing slopes around the village, at elevations ranging roughly from 230 to 390 meters. The soils here are stony limestone-clay, well-drained and quick to warm, conditions well suited to chardonnay and characteristic of this Côte de Beaune appellation.
Winemaking and aging
In line with the house's approach to its white Burgundies, the grapes for the Puligny-Montrachet Village 2023 are pressed gently before fermenting directly in French oak barrels. The wine is then aged on fine lees with periodic stirring, a practice that builds its creamy texture and contributes the toasted, vanilla-tinged notes found on the nose.
Grape Varieties
This wine is made from 100% chardonnay, the only grape variety permitted within the Puligny-Montrachet appellation.
