An Échezeaux Grand Cru Rooted in the Côte de Nuits by Domaine A.F. Gros
The Estate
Founded in 1988 by Anne-Françoise Gros, Domaine A.F. Gros is based in Pommard, in Burgundy. The estate brings together old-vine grand crus from the Côte de Nuits and premier crus from the Côte de Beaune. Since 2013, the second generation has taken over: Caroline Parent handles development and commercial operations, while Mathias Parent oversees the vineyards and winemaking. The domaine is known for its meticulous, hands-on approach, including extensive use of whole-cluster fermentation.
The Vineyard
The Échezeaux parcel farmed by Domaine A.F. Gros is planted with very old vines located in Flagey-Échezeaux, within the Côte de Nuits. The appellation's soils combine argilo-calcareous ground, Bajocian marls, yellow marls, stones, pebbles and red loams, with vines planted at an altitude of roughly 230 to 300 meters.
Winemaking and aging
This Échezeaux Grand Cru Domaine 2020 is vinified according to the estate's philosophy of meticulous, low-intervention winemaking, which includes generalized whole-cluster fermentation. Aging takes place in French oak barrels, with the proportion of new wood adjusted according to the status of each cuvée, grand crus such as this one receiving a higher share of new oak.
Grape Varieties
100% pinot noir.
