The Complexity and Elegance of a Blanc de Blancs from Pol Roger
The Estate
Founded in 1849, the House of Champagne Pol Roger has upheld the excellence of its craftsmanship and its relentless pursuit of perfection for 5 generations. A benchmark that extends well beyond national borders, the House of Pol Roger is the official supplier to the British Crown as well as to the finest starred restaurants.
As one of the last houses to still practice hand riddling for its entire production of champagne bottles, Pol Roger's distinctiveness lies in a style that authentically expresses the full potential of exceptional Champagne terroirs.
The Vineyard
The House of Champagne Pol Roger oversees an exceptional vineyard spanning 92 hectares, including some of the finest plots in the Montagne de Reims and the Côte des Blancs.
The Wine
This Blanc de Blancs Vintage 2015 from Pol Roger is crafted from a selection of Chardonnay grapes sourced from the Grands Crus of the Côte des Blancs: Oiry, Chouilly, Cramant, Avize, and Oger.
Winemaking and Aging
A gentle pressing is carried out following the harvest. An initial settling takes place at the pressing center, followed by a second settling in the house's cellar, at a cold temperature (6°C) for 24 hours. Alcoholic fermentation occurs at a low temperature (18°C) in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. Vinification is carried out separately by grape variety and by cru prior to the final blending. Malolactic fermentation follows. After blending and bottling, the second fermentation and aging take place in the house's historic cellars.
Produced in limited quantities, Pol Roger's Blanc de Blancs Vintage undergoes 6 years of aging. Following disgorgement, an additional aging period of at least 3 months takes place before release.
