A Bourgogne Hautes-Côtes de Nuits from Antonin Guyon, Shaped by the Meuilley Hillside
The Estate
Domaine Antonin Guyon took shape in the 1960s, when Antonin Guyon, then 55, began acquiring vineyard plots across prized appellations of the Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune in Burgundy, France. The estate today covers nearly 50 hectares, relies on 18th-century cellars in Aloxe-Corton and Savigny-lès-Beaune, and has been certified organic since 2018. It is now run by Antonin's sons, Dominique and Michel Guyon, with Dominique overseeing winemaking alongside cellar master Vincent Nicot. The range spans from regional Bourgogne bottlings to the Grand Crus of Corton and Corton-Charlemagne.
The Vineyard
The Bourgogne Hautes-Côtes de Nuits "Les Dames de Vergy" comes from the hillside of Meuilley, near Nuits-Saint-Georges, a south-facing slope of about 20 hectares that Dominique Guyon brought together from some 350 scattered plots in 1970. The vines grow on clay-limestone soils and average 30 to 40 years of age, farmed by hand with thorough soil cultivation, and yields are kept to around 35 hectoliters per hectare to concentrate the fruit.
Winemaking and aging
Grapes destined for the Bourgogne Hautes-Côtes de Nuits "Les Dames de Vergy" 2023 are harvested by hand and sorted both in the vineyard and at the cellar before fermenting in open wooden vats for 10 to 12 days, with punching down and controlled temperatures. The wine is then aged for about 12 months between barrels and vats, entirely within the estate's historic cellars in Aloxe-Corton and Savigny-lès-Beaune.
Grape Varieties
This wine is made from 100% pinot noir.
