Description
The estate
For four generations, Domaine Joseph Drouhin has been a must-know reference among fine Burgundy wines. Founded in 1880 by Joseph Drouhin, who was 22 years old at the time, the estate has expanded over the years and has reached its current size of 80 hectares. The vines spread over renowned appellations (Beaune, Bonnes-Mares, Chassagne-Montrachet, Clos Vougeot, Corton-Charlemagne, Grands-Echezeaux, Pouilly-Fuissé, etc.).
Since 1957, this family of precursors has advocated respect for the terroir and the environment both regarding the vineyard management and the production of their fine wines.
The red and white wines of Domaine Joseph Drouhin authentically express the mosaic and richness of the Burgundian terroirs. They are renowned for their elegance, their intense fruity aromas and their gourmet complexity.
The vineyard
This Joseph Drouhin "Morgeot" Marquis de Laguiche 2020 is a Chassagne-Montrachet 1er cru wine that stems from a 2.26-hectare vineyard, located in the south of the Côte de Beaune, on marl and limestone soils.
Vinification and ageing
Harvested and sorted by hand, the grapes are gently pressed. The juice from the last press is not included in the making of this wine. The wine is placed into barrels after settling. The wine is aged for 12 months in French oak barrels (20% of which are new), dried for more than 3 years to contribute to the finesse of the wines.
The blend
Chardonnay (100%).
