The elegance of a complex and structured Super Tuscan

An iconic Super Tuscan, Luce by Tenuta Luce della Vite is the fruit of a collaboration between the Marchesi de Frescobaldi family and Robert Mondavi. From their meeting was born the ambition to produce a wine in the IGT Toscana, which would blend the roundness of Merlot with the structure and the elegance of Sangiovese from the lands of Brunello di Montalcino.

A symbol of tradition and modernity, Luce embodies the excellence of the great Super Tuscans that first appeared in the Tuscany region of Italy in the 1970’s.

The climatic conditions of 2015 resulted in an exceptional vintage for Luce. After a classic winter marked by enough rainfall to prevent hydric stress in the vineyard, the beautiful hot and dry summer that followed allowed the vine to grow steadily and develop superb phenolic maturity.

At the tasting, the Luce 2015 of Tenuta Luce della Vite presents an intense and very expressive aromatic bouquet with vanilla and spicy notes reminiscent of sweet gingerbread. Swirling the glass gradually reveals hints of cinnamon and cloves, along with ripe fruit, plum and cherry aromas on the nose. On the palate, the wine seduces with its frank attack and its structure of elegant, molten tannins bringing a beautiful substance. The very fresh finish stretches forth into a remarkably persistent length. A great Super Tuscan from Tenuta Luce della Vite, in an exceptional vintage.
