Description

A Vibrant and Energetic Arneis from Langhe

In 1900, Pierre Tintero journeyed from France to Italy in search of work and settled at a small estate in Piedmont, where he began by helping the widowed owner Rosina Cortese work the vines. Eventually, Rosina and Pierre fell in love and got married a few years later. They bottled their first Dolcetto together in 1914, right as World War I broke out. Eventually their sons, Giovanni and Carlo, took over the estate and began expanding it by purchasing vineyards nearby. For some time they produced Moscato grapes to sell to Cinzano and Martini, but kept producing their own still wines and in the 1980's Carlo's son Elvio also began experimenting with the production of frizzante wines. Now the Elvio Tintero winery is run by Elvio's son Marco and his wife Cinzia. The property is located in the commune of Mango and 20 out of 30 hectares of the vineyard are planted to Moscato. This Italian white wine is made 100% from the Arneis varietal, which is planted on 3.33 hectares of vineyard area. The vines here are 10 years on average, planted in clay and limestone soil with a high percentage of rocks, and cultivated according to sustainable practices. The wine is fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats for around 20 days and then aged for 2 months on its lees.

In the glass, the Elvio Tintero Langhe Arneis 2016 of Elvio Tintero displays a pretty straw yellow color, with bright reflections. This wine offers a crisp and vibrant nose, along with a delicate bouquet of white fruit (including peaches), as well as acacia and yellow flowers. On the palate, this Arneis wine is quite dry with a perfect balance of acidity and fruit, along with a pleasant bitter note on the finish. Fantastic as an aperitif or paired with fish, the Elvio Tintero Langhe Arneis 2016 can be aged for up to 3 years in the bottle.
