Elio Altare Wines

Elio Altare Wines image

Originally from the town of Dogliani, the Altare family came to La Morra in 1948 and purchased 5 hectares of Nebbiolo, Barbera and Dolcetto vineyards, along with some various other fruit trees. In 1976 a short trip to Burgundy inspired his son Elio Altare to cut down the orchards and make room for his brand new barrique. It wasn’t easy introducing new methods to his father, but despite this Elio gave a new interpretation to the wines of the estate, highlighting the elegance, finesse and balance. Tenuta Elio Altare stands today on 10 hectares and average annual production is about 60,000 bottles.
