Description
Characteristics and Tasting Notes of the Bourgogne Hautes-Côtes de Beaune 2024 Domaine François Mikulski
TastingColor
The wine shows a very pale golden hue with lime-green reflections, bright and limpid in the glass.
Nose
The nose opens on a profusion of fully blooming white flowers—daisy, lily of the valley, white carnation, and freesia—layered with delicate white fruit such as pear, white peach, and golden apple reminiscent of candied apple. Fine honey, lavender, aniseed, and meringue add floral and pastry-like nuances, while a fresh green note recalls grass just after a light rain.
Palate
The palate reveals full ripeness and a generous, spiced character, built on a juicy coulis of white fruit and citrus, spiced pear, saffron-touched apple, curry-accented orange, and Sichuan-pepper mandarin. A pronounced acidity runs through the wine, bringing persistent lime notes and a salty, sea-air–like energy, while sage and peppery verbena, along with a hint of salted celery, add further depth. The finish is long and taut, carried by a remarkable mineral intensity that lingers well beyond the last sip.
This Bourgogne Hautes-Côtes de Beaune pairs beautifully with delicate seafood and fish dishes enhanced with fresh herbs, such as an herb-flecked fish terrine, or lightly fried shellfish seasoned with fragrant spices.
Serving and cellaringThe Bourgogne Hautes-Côtes de Beaune 2024 from Domaine François Mikulski is best served chilled, in keeping with the usual serving habits for fine white Burgundies. Its vibrant acid structure suggests the wine has the potential to evolve further in the cellar, although no official cellaring timeframe has been specified for this vintage.
A Bourgogne Hautes-Côtes de Beaune Expressing the Precision of Domaine François Mikulski
The EstateFounded in 1992 by François and Marie-Pierre Mikulski in Meursault, in the heart of Burgundy's Côte de Beaune, Domaine François Mikulski farms around nine hectares of vines across Meursault and neighboring villages. The estate practices organic viticulture without certification and favors gentle, non-interventionist winemaking, guided by a philosophy of authenticity, elegance, and purity. Today, the next generation, daughter Anna and her husband Thomas Boccon, works alongside François to continue the family's pursuit of precise, terroir-driven chardonnays.
The VineyardThe Bourgogne Hautes-Côtes de Beaune comes from two organically farmed plots located in the villages of Nolay and Meloisey, in the higher-altitude Hautes-Côtes de Beaune. The Nolay parcel accounts for roughly two-thirds of the blend, with the remaining third coming from Meloisey. Both sites rest on clay-limestone soils typical of this cooler, elevated part of the Côte de Beaune, which bring freshness, acidic tension, and a distinct saline imprint to the wine.
Winemaking and agingFor the Bourgogne Hautes-Côtes de Beaune 2024, grapes are hand-harvested and gently pressed using pneumatic presses to preserve a soft, silky texture. The juice undergoes a thorough settling period before fermentation begins with indigenous yeasts, a slow process that can last three to four months in the estate's cool, rock-hewn cellars. The wine is then aged on its lees in barrel for twelve months, with only a limited proportion of new oak, before careful fining and bottling in February of the year following the harvest.
Grape Varieties100 % chardonnay.
