Description
Characteristics and Tasting Notes of the Bourgogne Côte d'Or 2023 from Domaine François Mikulski
Tasting
Color
The wine displays a captivating ruby color, bright and luminous, with the kind of freshness typically associated with the pinot noir grape.
Nose
The nose is fresh, delicate and aromatic, opening on ripe cherry and raspberry, with floral touches of peony and tulip, joined by darker fruit notes of blackcurrant and blackberry, a hint of sweet spice and a faint trace of smoke in the background.
Palate
The palate is light and succulent, carried by a perfectly balanced acidity that makes the wine remarkably easy to drink. Juicy and generous, it reveals a mix of black and white pepper along with a touch of licorice and bark, while the tannins, already very ripe and silky, lead to a precise, straight and lingering finish.
Food and wine pairings
This Bourgogne Côte d'Or Rouge 2023 is best enjoyed alongside grilled meats, which it accompanies beautifully with its juicy fruit and refined texture.
Serving and cellaring
Serve this Bourgogne Côte d'Or 2023 between 57°F and 61°F (14-16°C). It can be enjoyed now or cellared through 2028 or so.
A fresh and juicy expression of pinot noir from Domaine François Mikulski in Meursault
The Estate
Domaine François Mikulski was created in 1991 in Meursault, in the heart of Burgundy's Côte de Beaune, by François and Marie-Pierre Mikulski. Today led by François Mikulski, with his son-in-law Thomas Boccon set to take over in the coming years, the estate has built its reputation on three guiding principles: authenticity, elegance and purity. Farmed organically, though without certification, this small, family-run property is recognized for precise, pure wines that faithfully reflect the character of their terroirs around Meursault.
The Vineyard
This Bourgogne Côte d'Or Rouge comes from two plots owned by Marie-Pierre and François Mikulski, planted in 1929 and 1980 and covering a combined 1.30 hectares. The vines grow on subsoils of fine river alluvium, typical of the lower slopes within the Côte d'Or appellation, and are farmed organically, without certification.
Winemaking and aging
The grapes for this Bourgogne Côte d'Or 2023 are destemmed and fermented in vat for 15 to 18 days using indigenous yeasts. The wine is then aged for about ten months in oak barrels before being racked and transferred to tank for two months prior to bottling.
Grape Varieties
This wine is made from 100% pinot noir.
