Description
A Haut-Médoc red wine combining aromatic richness and balance
The estate
Located in the Haut-Médoc appellation, at the gateway to Pauillac, Château Peyrabon is nestled in a lush green setting. Owned by Patrick Bernard since 1998, Château Peyrabon has undergone significant restructuring and modernization, both in the vineyard and in the cellar. Classified as a Cru Bourgeois Supérieur, Château Peyrabon is a very fine reference in the Haut-Médoc. It offers wines that are representative of the appellation, elegant and powerful, with superb aging potential.
Since September 2022, Château Peyrabon and Château Fleur Peyrabon have been acquired by the BCAP group (Castéja family), owners of Château Batailley and Château Lynch-Moussas, among others.
The vineyard
This Château Peyrabon 2023 is a Haut-Médoc wine stemming from a vineyard of approximately 37 hectares. Averaging 30 years of age, the vines are planted on sandy gravel resting on a clay subsoil. Clay-limestone soils are found on 5 hectares of the vineyard. The vineyard holds ISO14001-2015 and HVE (High Environmental Value) certification, with phytosanitary protection carried out using sustainable viticulture.
Winemaking and aging
The grapes, transferred by vibrating hopper, undergo destemming and optical sorting before crushing and vatting. Plot-based vinification is carried out in temperature-controlled concrete and stainless steel vats. Average maceration of 21 days. The press wines are separated and then selected after tasting. Barrelling is carried out partly in barrels upon draining. Aging lasts for 14 months in barrels (30% new wood) followed by fining in vats.
Blend
Château Peyrabon 2023 is the result of a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (56%), Merlot (41%) and Petit Verdot (3%).
