Description

A Haut-Médoc red wine combining aromatic richness and balance

The estate

Located in the Haut-Médoc appellation, at the gates of Pauillac, the Château Peyrabon is nestled in a true green setting. Owned by Patrick Bernard since 1998, Château Peyrabon has undergone significant restructuring and modernisation, both in the vineyard and in the winery. Classified as Cru Bourgeois Supérieur, Château Peyrabon is a very fine reference of Haut-Médoc. It offers wines representative of the appellation, elegant and powerful, promising a superb ageing potential.

Since September 2022, Château Peyrabon and Château Fleur Peyrabon have been acquired by the BCAP group (Castéja family), owner notably of Château Batailley and Château Lynch-Moussas.

The vineyard

This Château Peyrabon 2023 is a Haut-Médoc wine from a vineyard of nearly 37 hectares. With an average age of 30 years, the vines are planted on sandy gravel resting on a clay subsoil. Clay-limestone soils are found on 5 hectares of the vineyard. The vineyard benefits from ISO14001-2015 and HVE (High Environmental Value) certification with phytosanitary protection carried out in reasoned control.

Vinification and ageing

The grapes transferred by vibrating bin are destemmed and optically sorted before crushing and vatting. Parcel vinification is carried out in thermo-regulated concrete and stainless steel vats. Average maceration of 21 days. The presses are separated and then selected after tasting. The barrelling is partly carried out at the runoff. The ageing lasts 14 months in barrels (30% new wood) then fining in vat.

Blend

The Château Peyrabon 2023 is the result of a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (56%), Merlot (41%) and Petit Verdot (3%).
