An authentic Bourgogne Rouge true to its terroir from Armand Heitz in Burgundy.
The Estate
Founded in 2012 by agronomist Armand Heitz, who remains the current owner and director, this estate embodies a new generation of viticulture in Burgundy. Located in Chassagne-Montrachet, the property includes around 20 hectares of vines within a larger, diversified 230-hectare farm. Armand Heitz stands out for his strong commitment to regenerative agriculture and polyculture, incorporating cattle farming to promote biodiversity. This holistic approach reflects the estate's ambition to preserve historical heritage while producing authentic wines with a strong environmental respect.
The Vineyard
The parcels dedicated to this Bourgogne cuvée cover 1.74 hectares, located near the prestigious villages of Meursault and Pommard in the Côte de Beaune. The vines, planted between 1967 and 2018, thrive on clay-loam soils over marl. This clay-rich composition favors wines with depth and aromatic intensity. Vineyard management is guided by sound agronomic principles, limiting interventions, with an average yield of 45 hectoliters per hectare.
The Vintage
The 2023 growing season in Burgundy was particularly demanding from a climatic standpoint. Throughout the vegetative cycle, it required constant attention in the vineyard, great sensitivity, and highly precise decision-making to meet the challenges of the year.
Winemaking and aging
The crafting of Bourgogne Rouge 2023 follows a minimal-intervention philosophy in the cellar. Fermentation is carried out with 50% whole clusters to preserve finesse and enhance aromatic complexity. The wine is then aged for 8 months in barrels, bringing balance and structure without allowing oak to dominate.
Grape Varieties
100% Pinot Noir
