Description
The Alfa Crux Malbec from Bodegas y Viñedos O. Fournier comes from the appellation La Consulta in Mendoza, Argentina. After hand harvesting and sorting the grapes, fermentation occurs in stainless steel tanks. Twenty eight days of skin contact allows for the proper extraction of color, tannin, and flavor. The unfiltered wine is then aged for 18 months in a combination of 80% French and 20% American oak barrels. The barrels are stored in the winery's underground cellar where the temperature and humidity levels are strictly controlled. Once bottled, the Bodegas y Viñedos 2008 Alfa Crux Malbec undergoes about one more year of aging, thus assuring proper maturity before being released to the market.
