Description
The Nusserhof Heinrich Mayr Lagrein Riserva Sudtirol comes from the Alto Adige region (known as Sudtirol to its German-speaking inhabitants) in far northern Italy. Elda & Heinrich Mayr are the latest generation of the family that has been working the land since 1788, cultivating Lagrein and Blatterle in their 2.5 hectares of vines. The name Nusserhof comes from the walnut trees that once lined the house on the river side, which were unfortunately torn down to make way for a municipal bike path. The wine is certified organic, made from 100% Lagrein, a native grape that dates back at least 600 years. Fermented in stainless steel vats, the wine is then aged for 1-2 years in 500 liter barrels followed by additional aging in bottle before release. The Nusserhof Heinrich Mayr Lagrein Riserva Sudtirol has floral notes and red fruit, with a savory note that delivers deliciously round tannins on the palate. Enjoy with veal chops seasoned with rosemary and garlic.
