Masseria Li Veli : Verdeca 2011

The Masseria Li Veli Verdeca was born from a desire to investigate ancient Apulian grape varieties. A blend of 90% Verdeca with 10% Fiano Minutolo, the vines from which it is harvested are approximately 32 years old and grow at 320 meters above sea level in a chalky, sedimentary soil. The grapes are hand-harvested and chilled upon entering the winery in order to preserve the aromatic qualities of the varieties. Masseria Li Veli Verdeca is fermented in stainless steel, temperature controlled vats and held at a cold temperature in order to prevent malolactic fermentation. A strikingly aromatic wine, the Masseria Li Veli Verdeca show bright tropical fruits, citrus and hints of spice. The palate is full and balanced by a crisp acidity with a mineral aspect to the finish.
