Description
The slightly larger half of Marcarini's Barolo production comes from the Brunate cru - Marcarini farming 4.5 hectares of this vineyard which lies in both La Morra and Barolo at an average elevation of 300 meters above sea level. Marcarini's Brunate holdings were planted in two phases in 1980 and 1986. The Brunate has been one of the most esteemed vineyards in the Barolo region since the 1300s and has been bottled by Marcarini since 1958. As with La Serra, the winemaking is traditional with long macerations of at least four weeks and aging in large (20/40 hl) barrels for at least two years. The Brunate, by comparison to La Serra, is more brooding and structured on release and requires more time to age.
