Description
Made from 100% Sangiovese Grosso, the clone of the Sangiovese grape endemic to the Montalcino region, the Fossacolle Brunello di Montalcino is fermented in temperature controlled steel and wood fermenters for a period of approximately three weeks. The malolactic fermentation takes place in concrete tanks before the wine is transferred to age for a period of two years in a combination of large oak casks and smaller French oak barriques. Following this wood aging, the wine is transferred to glass-lined cement tanks before bottling and release six months later. It is an intense, full-bodied Brunello di Montalcino with a soft, creamy texture and great aging potential.
